Ballet LA originated from The Dance Center in Auburn, Maine, and is dedicated to inspiring and elevating the communities of Lewiston-Auburn through the beauty of ballet and modern. The establishment of a local dance company looks to collaborate and compliment the vibrant arts community of L/A.
Ballet LA collaborates with The Dance Center to present five shows each season. The lineup for the 2025-2026 Season features “Fall Experience”, “A Nutcracker Christmas”, “Cinderella”, “Ballet LA New Works”, and “The Summer Choreography Showcase.“
Ballet LA offers different participation levels within its tiered company structure. Non Company members are still welcome to audition and participate in all of Ballet LA’s performance opportunities. Ballet LA from The Dance Center is expanding and is seeking to offer more paid positions for professional adult dancers in the 2026/2027 season. For additional information regarding opportunities to dance with Ballet LA, please refer to the materials listed below and do not hesitate to reach out.
Ballet LA from The Dance Center is accepting applications now through May 2026 for the 2026-2027 Season
Application requirements:
- Resume with your age, height, citizenship, and training/experience (accepted formats: .doc, .docx, or PDF; 1 page)
- Headshot and 2 Dance Photographs (accepted formats: .jpg or PDF)
- Video Link of performance and classwork of classical ballet, contemporary or modern movement (accepted formats: YouTube or Vimeo)
- One side of barre, including, plies, tendus, degages, ronde de jambes, fondus, frappes, barre adagio, and grande battement
- Center work including, adagio, pirouettes, waltz, petit allegro, and grande allegro
- Performance video of both ballet and contemporary or modern technique

Applications will be accepted through May 2026. Applications MUST contain all of the materials listed above. Incomplete applications or applications submitted with other file formats, or outside of the application period, will not be reviewed.
Junior Company will consist of student dancers from The Dance Center in Level 5 only.
Guest Company are invitation only, and will be cast at the discretion of Ballet LA’s staff and instructors.
The Apprenticeship Program is designed for Level 5 dancers who may not be ready for a company position yet, but show a strong interest and potential for future development within the company.
All company members throughout Ballet LA’s performance season may be featured in corps de ballet or lead roles as Guest Company Members. All roles are at the discretion of Ballet LA’s staff and instructors.
Expectations and Requirements for Ballet LA Company Dancers:
Junior Company Member Role and Requirements:
- Must be in Level 5 Ballet classes at The Dance Center
- Dancers must attend the Ballet LA audition on Friday, September 12th 2025
- Regular attendance for weekly classes at The Dance Center, as well as company classes and all rehearsals
- Availability for all 5 of Ballet LA’s performances and corresponding rehearsals: Nutcracker, Cinderella, Recital & Summer Show
- Junior Company Members are eligible for lead roles, speciality roles and corps de ballet roles
Senior Company Member Role and Requirements:
- Application process as seen above
- Regular attendance for company classes and rehearsals
- Availability for performances and corresponding rehearsals
- Senior Company Members are eligible for lead roles, specialty roles and corps de ballet roles
Guest Company Member Role and Requirements:
- Invite Only
- Regular attendance for rehearsals
- Guest Company Members are eligible for lead roles, specialty roles and corps de ballet roles
Apprenticeship Program Role Requirements:
- Must be in Ballet Level 5 at The Dance Center
- Regular attendance for weekly classes at The Dance Center, as well as company classes and all rehearsals
- Availability for most of Ballet LA’s performances
- Apprenticeship dancers are eligible for some lead roles and corps de ballet roles, as well as opportunities to understudy larger roles
